Biography
Emma Marnoch is a photographer based between Vienna and Scotland. She is largely self-taught, having originally studied music at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Marnoch began her photographic career producing artist portraits, while continuing to develop personal work exploring landscape, architecture, and the traces of human presence within environments. Over time this personal practice has become the central focus of her work.
Her photography is concerned with how places carry fragments of past presence through material traces, atmosphere, and layered temporalities. Working across landscapes, rural structures, and architectural spaces, she is particularly interested in environments that exist in states of transition or ambiguity.
Emma's work has received international recognition, including awards from the Prix de la Photographie Paris, the International Photography Awards, the Tokyo International Photography Awards, and the Vienna International Photo Awardsand her work has been published in the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year collection.
